End Security Risk Group Repression in North Carolina

initiated in January 2025
updated on April 08, 2025

Prisoners validated as Security Risk Group (SRG), meaning “gang members”, in North Carolina have suffered immense repression for this label. Punishments are meted out based on alleged affiliation and not based on the breaking of rules or committing of crimes. This is a form of group punishment and guilt by association, that prevents whole segments of the population from developing family connections and building a successful life after release from prison. These populations in North Carolina are primarily New Afrikan.

Hundreds have come together to grieve these conditions and a lawsuit has been initiated.
