Tracking Prison Censorship in the United States

...I am quite sure this issue of *ULK* neither "teaches" nor "advocates" violence. If there is an article reporting about violence in another place, then that is newsworthy and not teaching or advocating violence. This has been ruled on many times in cases involving *Prison Legal News*.

I know from conversations that many correctional officers voted for Donald Trump in the last election, and would therefore disapprove of communist-leaning publications like *ULK*. While correctional officers may disagree politically with a publication, that is not sufficient reason to deny its receipt. Please review the publication and overturn the denial. Thank you.

...This publication is denied throughout the Division of Adult Institutions, this decision was not made at the JCI level, rather DAI Security Chief Miller reviewed it and denied the publication.

In review of the areas in question I would also advocate for the denial of this particular edition. Each publication is typically reviewed on a case by case basis, and although this one is denied, it does not mean future issues would be denied.
