"Casablanca Express"
1989
90 minutes
Starring Glenn Ford
Amerikans and British carry out a World War II mission to defend Ward Churchill
on a train. A single commando goes to the rescue when the train
comes under attack by Germans.
A peripheral part of the actual war involving
Winston Churchill's train, the movie's whole premise is off-base. At the end,
the film lets on that the whole mission was in a way unnecessary.
"Casablanca Express" is half-way down the road to making the greatest
war of the 20th century insignificant through something close to
pornographic and lightweight violence. How many times do people
have to say "stay down," not "stay down" and get shot dead we wonder.
Pass on this movie. It's not the worst, but World War II deserves better.
