We often hear at the Maoist Internationalist Movement (MIM) that we should be grateful for not being censored. The belief that Uncle $am does not censor anyone is a central dogma and presumption of Amerikkkan politics, a dogma that will not bear factual scrutiny. Finally, after 20 years of existence, MIM is organizing itself to relay to the public its experiences with being censored--in prisons, colleges, malls, libraries and political meeting places. (Construction of these pages just started February 5th, 2003.)
MIM is openly for the "dictatorship of the proletariat." We claim advantages for our system such as universal health care which even the wealthy united $tates does not have. Our opponents claim "freedom," especially "freedom of speech" for why the world should have u.$.-style capitalism. We hear from Bush that the reason the U$A bombed Afghanistan and has kept Iraq under occupation is that they and the "terrorists" "oppose our freedoms."
MIM is tired of letting our opponents play loose with the facts just because we favor the "dictatorship of the proletariat." We communists never claimed to be setting up the "free world." We communists as in China under Mao delivered on our promises of universal health care, but the imperialists do not deliver on their promises: the imperialists repress free speech all over the globe, much worse than they do inside u.$. borders, but even inside u.$. borders we have censorship of opinions that are not mainstream white, middle-class or capitalist opinions.
There is no country in the world where all people are in prison, but many of our critics say there must be freedom if even one MIM member is not in prison. The fact is that the United $tates has the highest imprisonment rate in the world and has no business bragging about being a "free country" until it addresses its problems, so it does not have to imprison so many people.
There is also no country in the world that has 100% censorship. As you read this, people are reading MIM material in China and Vietnam where the governments officially oppose our website. Amerikkkans like to kid themselves that by seeing a communist every now and then there must be no censorship. By that standard, there is no censorship in any country in the world. On these web pages we will try to document that even the situation of "free speech" is not what the propagandists say. Only those such as MIM who try using their "free speech" will know.
