This is an archive of the former website of the Maoist Internationalist Movement, which was run by the now defunct Maoist Internationalist Party - Amerika. The MIM now consists of many independent cells, many of which have their own indendendent organs both online and off. MIM(Prisons) serves these documents as a service to and reference for the anti-imperialist movement worldwide.

Tasks that require financial support

PIRAO has undertaken to build the infrastructure needed by MIM to build Maoist public opinion in the ex-Soviet Union. A Ukrainian comrade has proposed that we do some work for Maoism in the Ukraine and a Russian has also proposed an idea of tasks that need to be done in Russia:

(a) The works of Chairperson Mao. Most or all of the important ones seem to have been translated into Russian in China (or in the USSR in the 1950s) and published, so no new translations seem to be required. We've got the equivalent of the first three volumes of the standard Chinese edition and the Red Book; I think that the remaining wolumes plus separate works could be found in Moscow libraries with little difficulty. I don't know though whether or not the very important 'Critique of Soviet Political Economy' (I have seen it in English) has been translated into Russian.

Thus the work here would consist in reducing these texts to electronic form with the purpose of placing them in the Web, as well as re-publishing some of them in paper form (the primary ones are the Red Book and 'On the Correct Handling of Contradictions...'). We have been doing some work in this direction, but scanning and editing the texts and publishing pamphlets in paper form requires a certain amount of investments.

(b) Documents of the Cultural Revolution. Pretty much the same could be said about these as about the works of Mao - most exist in good Russian translations. We already have (in electronic form) the May and August 1966 Resolutions of the CPC Central Committee on the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, The central task here, as in the previous case, would be scanning and editing, but some important texts may not be available in Russian, so some amount of translation (from European languages) will be required.

(c) Contemporary Maoist texts. An obvious choice is translation of basic documents of the PCP and speeches by Chairperson Gonzalo.

Here the work would consist in translation. Quality of the translation is of course primary. And we would have to find somebody who could handle Spanish.
