X-2 is really good. It's not a cartoon, but viewers who have seen the cartoons or comics first will have an easier time understanding the movie.
A colonel in the u.$. military stages assassination attempts on the president in order to continue his own private war with the mutant humyns on earth. His goal is to kill all the mutant humyns by making it look like they are the root of all evil.
A foolish child overly influenced by anti-mutant hysteria drummed up on television turns in his own mutant brother to the police. The police come to take away the mutants and the mutants waste them only to be saved by the same who wasted them--another righteous scene.
On any day for a long time, the mutants possessed the power to kill all non-mutant humyns on the planet simply by visualizing it. The mutant "professor" does not carry out the genocide. Instead, a faction of mutants seeks to capture the professor to force him into killing the entire humyn race, that is after the military colonel tries to capture him to force him to kill all mutants.
X-Men has the added bonus that it is not just men. A womyn saves the day in the end of the movie and the female characters are as strong as the males.
For those who do not believe the military would carry out faked incidents to influence public opinion, the government released documents in 2001 that showed just what X2 is talking about. See an article about the Cuba hysteria the military planned in the 1960s
