Now it is and you can see that Hamas and others are still on the 2001 list as MIM stated in its previous article on terrorism and the State Department's definition. State Department labels Hamas and others "terrorist."
Also, people should look again at the definition the State Department says constitutes the definition of terrorism. Note the use of "any" which means that it should be quite easy to get the U.S. Government designated "terrorist" in U.S. courts. Also, note that the State Department makes it clear that U.S. law trumps foreign law on the definition of terrorism. If Hamas is not defined as carrying out terrorist acts in Palestine, but the U.S. law would designate such acts as "terrorism," then Hamas acts will be considered terrorism. Such is in fact what is happening.
Nonetheless, being on a legal list of the State Department and State Department policy or strategy are not the same thing.
