MIM wishes Communist Party of the Philippines "Happy Birthday"
The Maoist Internationalist Movement (MIM) hails the thirty-third anniversary of the re- establishment of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) under the guidance of Marxism- Leninism-Maoism, the acme of proletarian revolutionary ideology in the present era when imperialism is heading for total collapse and socialism is marching toward victory. Because of its grounding in Maoism, its concrete grasp of the problems facing the Filipino people (especially its analysis of the Philippines as semi-feudal and semi-colonial and its strategy of protracted people's war), its reliance on the basic masses, and its perseverance in the face of hard struggle, the CPP has grown from a few core members to a Party of thousands, with a mass base reaching into the millions.
Protracted people's wars such as that led by the CPP are currently delivering the strongest blows against imperialism. The American imperialists and all sorts of phony "Marxists" seek to slander true revolutionaries and scare the masses by equating People's War with terrorism. This is a desperate lie. Terrorism, by these pundits' own definition, targets civilians in order to exert political pressure. People's War targets the police and military which support the oppressive status quo -- not the people -- as part of the revolutionary struggle to replace the bourgeois state -- not to coax concessions out of it.
A People's War depends on the wholehearted support of the masses, which cannot be achieved by intimidation. On the other hand, the American imperialists' military and secret services have consciously terrorized whole nations for decades - - from the Philippines to Puerto Rico to Guatemala, to Iran, Indonesia, Vietnam, Iraq... and now Afghanistan. We take this opportunity to reiterate our commitment to support the revolution in the Philippines. We also reiterate our commitment to wage a socialist revolution here, which will overthrow our common enemy, u.$. imperialism. We wish our comrades in the CPP the utmost success in their struggle against imperialism, feudalism, and bureaucrat capitalism and for socialism.
