May 31 -- How fitting and how vulgar that as Amerika celebrates the wars and war heroes of its past, the u.$. military is pursuing two open wars in Iraq and Yugoslavia. MIM takes this day of remembrance to renew our solidarity with the international proletariat, and to strengthen our resolve in opposition to the ongoing imperialist war against the oppressed nations.
MIM was founded on the universal principles of Marxism-Leninism-Maoism, and on the recognition that anti-imperialism and anti-militarism are the two main principles that guide our work in this strategic stage. Today, we stand first against the wars in Iraq and Yugoslavia, in which Amerika and its allies are bombing the oppressed. We stand also against the Amerikan-sponsored wars against the peoples of the Philippines, East Timor, Peru, Palestine, Korea and so many other nations.
Organizing from within imperialist borders, it is our responsibility to expose the undeclared wars that make Amerikan imperialism the number one threat to the survival of this planet and its people. Because we work in the countries whose citizens live as parasites off the labor of the neo-colonies, we must also take care to expose the culture of militarism within the oppressor nations.
MIM mourns the loss of all lives that have been taken in the service of perpetuating Amerika's and its imperialist allies' hegemony over the oppressed nations. But we cannot ignore the fact that in this country the majority mourn their war dead while uncritically celebrating the militarism that caused their deaths. Just as war will eventually destroy the environment if we do not achieve international peace, war in the name of imperialism wastes every humyn life it takes.
As Mao said: "We are advocates of the abolition of war ... We do not want war; but war can only be abolished through war and in order to get rid of the gun it is necessary to take up the gun." The only war worth fighting is that which furthers humyn progress toward socialism and the eventual abolition of war. On this so-called Memorial Day, MIM calls on all people who oppose the wasteful killing off of the humyn species through war:
Take up the internationalist struggle against imperialism and militarism!
Build public opinion in favor of the just struggles of the oppressed!
