This is an archive of the former website of the Maoist Internationalist Movement, which was run by the now defunct Maoist Internationalist Party - Amerika. The MIM now consists of many independent cells, many of which have their own indendendent organs both online and off. MIM(Prisons) serves these documents as a service to and reference for the anti-imperialist movement worldwide.
The following petition was circulated in spring 2001 among students at Boston University as well as other schools
around the area. If you are interested in signing the petition, helping gather signatures, or work on this

To the Mexican Congress,
CONSIDERING
- First, that if society excludes any part of its population, it loses,
because it excludes talent and potential that could contribute to that
society. Therefore a society that includes all of its people is necessary
for the progress of the human race.
- Second, that as a result, the need for a law that respects and recognizes
the judicial and social systems of the indigenous communities, without
excluding them from technological advances, is undeniable.
- Third, that 10 centuries of history therefore must not be erased and
ignored as it has been done so far.
We the undersigned students, as members of the international community and
the human race, express our support for the National Indigenous Conference
(CNI) and the Zapatista National Liberation Army (EZLN) in their efforts
to show the world that Indigenous cultures everywhere must be respected.
We recognize Indigenous communities' right to self-determination and to
free themselves from economic exploitation and militarization, which have
been encouraged by the United States "war on drugs." We oppose the joint
efforts of the Mexican and United States governments to repress indigenous
populations throughout Mexico through such institutions as the School of
the Americas. In addition we:
DEMAND
That the following be approved and enforced immediately:
- The Indigenous Bill of Rights (San Andres Accords)
- The necessary financial, administrative and judicial instruments for the
implementation of such law.
