This is an archive of the former website of the Maoist Internationalist Movement, which was run by the now defunct Maoist Internationalist Party - Amerika. The MIM now consists of many independent cells, many of which have their own indendendent organs both online and off. Rally against the war in New York March 20th 2004
Although New York City payed for a lot of cops March 20th 2004, it was a lot less wasted money than in some previous demonstrations where beserk NYC cops prevented demonstrators from carrying cardboard signs and meeting among themselves. Heavy public criticism of the cops previous to the rally may have made this rally smoother than previous ones. There was even a contingent of police marching, whether for security or politics we did not ask.
MIM handed out 2000 copies of MIM Notes, but we never got the bird's eye view of how many demonstrators crowded the 15 blocks of New York City.
Someone inspired by the recent Jesus movie carried in a cross to the rally to symbolize the crucifixtion of the truth, but police shuffled him off as cops
forced all wooden sticks to be left away from the rally.
The people expressed their appreciation to Spain for trying to end the war through an election.
One demonstrator correctly saw the self-interest of the whole species in opposing the war in Iraq.
Instead of the "Lion King" we have the "Lying King," a popular view MIM disagrees with because we would oppose the war even if Bush told the naked truth about it.
It took several hours for everyone to march in a space of about 15 blocks reserved for the rally.
