This is an archive of the former website of the Maoist Internationalist Movement, which was run by the now defunct Maoist Internationalist Party - Amerika. The MIM now consists of many independent cells, many of which have their own indendendent organs both online and off. MIM(Prisons) serves these documents as a service to and reference for the anti-imperialist movement worldwide.

Spain


Although Spain is an imperialist country, foreign countries own a large share of the monopolies there. MIM is still studying whether a majority of the population there is petty-bourgeoisie or not.

 

Spain is important as a place where major powers fought the first battles of World War II. In the Spanish Civil War of 1936-38, the Nazis aided Franco to destroy the elected republic while Stalin sent weapons to defend the republic against fascist treason. Anarchists also consider Spain important, because anarchists seemed to be in control of about 4 million people for a period of the civil war, the best showing of anarchists anywhere in the modern world.
